Two killed in puja pandal fire

KOLKATA: Two persons, including a baby girl, were burnt to death and five others injured when a Vishwakarma puja pandal inside a garage caught fire on Wednesday at Madanpur in the Chakdah area in the Nadia district.
The pandal caught fire from a lighted oil lamp. The flames spread due to the presence of petrol in the garage premises, DIG (headquarters) Narayan Ghosh said.
The fire which broke out around 12.30 pm was doused by villagers, he said. "Among those killed were the mother-in-law of the garage owner and one-and-half year-old baby girl. Most of the injured were also relatives of the garage owner," he said.
